If you have the option of placing the cage on a vinyl, tile or wood floor, you will find that clean-up is much easier. If you must place your cage in a carpeted room, heavy plastic sheeting is available at a home supply store which can be cut to fit beneath the cage and is disposable (and also washable!)
Remember to also respect your bird’s need for rest and quiet time, especially if you have an extremely active family. A dark-colored cage cover will afford your Quaker privacy and security at night, and will signal him that it’s time to go to sleep.
If you are lucky, it may also keep him quiet a little later in the morning, allowing you the luxury of a few more minutes of sleep. Finding the right spot for you Quaker can make all the difference in the world to both you and your pet, and a few moments of foresight can ensure its health and safety.
