Throughout the years, I have had innumerable species of birds take up residence in my home and aviary. Although every bird has had its own endearing qualities, my favorite species continues to be the mischievous Quaker parakeet.
Regardless of which species of birds I may have had “in house” at the time, one of these lovable parakeets were always among them even to this day I have 1 pet bird in the house and its a Quaker! These pint-sized wonders have captured the hearts of bird lovers and breeders across the country with their charm and personality.
Personally, I used to keep and breed Quakers for several reasons; one of which was, simply: profit. Breeding birds can be a profitable hobby or business for anyone who has armed themselves with the knowledge and training that is needed to pursue such an endeavor. At one time I had forty pairs of Quakers housed in a small aviary constructed in my basement, and reaped the financial benefits of hand-raising babies for several years.
